City Academy is dedicated to providing support not only to our 180 students, but also to our 155 alumni. Each semester, I conduct about 100 visits to our alumni. I check in on their progress, conduct one-on-one counseling sessions, and meet with advisers, principals and heads of school. The following is an update as to how some of our scholars are doing in secondary schools.
Tamar ’15 (Missouri Military Academy ’21)
Tamar has a 3.5 GPA and has gained strong recognition around campus. The President of Missouri Military Academy said of Tamar, “He is a model for the entire school. He represents the kind of honor, integrity and strength that we want to see from all of our cadets. MMA is a better place because Tamar is here.”
Tamar ’15 (Missouri Military Academy ’21)
Jerris ’10 (Christian Brothers College High School ’16)
While Jerris awaits word from a host of great schools, wherever he lands, he will be truly prepared. His experience at CBC has been as strong and successful as anyone could have hoped! He has maintained a 3.8 GPA while managing sports and community service responsibilities.
Makayla ’10 (Westminster Christian Academy ’16)
Makayla’s been on the honor roll at Westminster for four years. Yesterday her mother emailed her current acceptance letters (SLU, Truman, Maryville and Bradley), and said “This success is all of our success. I get emotional thinking about my City Academy family and all you all have done to support us every step of the way. It’s been such a challenging academic road, but I cannot thank you all enough for being here for us.”
Ronald ’10 (John Burroughs School ’16)
Ronald has always been very gifted in math and science. The past four years, Ronald has grown into the kind of scholar we knew he could be and the leader we had always imagined. Yesterday he received the phone call he’d been waiting for; he’s now Columbia University bound!!
These alumni stories and a host of other accomplishments from other alumni go to show that every day, our faculty and staff, families, donors, supporters, and community partners are truly transforming the lives of City Academy students.
