2021 Sixth Grade Graduation Presentations | Amir Whalen

Good morning parents, faculty and my fellow classmates. My name is Amir Whalen and as I stand before you, I am relieved that this day has finally arrived. Since the start of my journey in Pre-K, until this point, I have climbed out of my shell of self- doubt and reliance on others and gained independence instead. To be independent has been a personal goal of mine for quite some time and the start of finding myself as a student. This growth of independence started in third grade during our end of year Wax Museum. I was extremely nervous and uneasy, but I was determined to do well, and I did. I was ready and prepared and filled with satisfaction for such an accomplishment.

Good morning, My name is Cali Melton, and I can not believe I will be graduating today. City Academy is built on love. It has brought me courage, determination and most importantly LOVE. I present to you my stages of love and ALL the things I love about City Academy.

City Academy is something like my home. A home filled with love. My art piece is filled with some of the vibrant colors of the rainbow. Each heart featured represents my love for City Academy.

What is love? As I began to ponder all the ways in which I love City Academy, I was overwhelmed with so many ideas, so please forgive as I am unable to share ALL that I love about my home; City Academy.

What inspires you? This may be people you know personally, people who you want to be like, or communities that you see. 2021 Sixth Grade Graduation Presentations | Brooklyn Willis

Good morning, I am Brooklyn Willis. This place has been great to me. This place has taught me so much. I have learned how to create a chemical reaction in science, how to dig deeper into my novel studies in literature and EVEN how to solve algebraic equations in math.

But I have learned much more over the years. I learned how to turn “humility into wisdom”. Allow me to briefly share some of my experiences of humility that resulted in acquiring wisdom.

2021 Sixth Grade Graduation Presentations | Tyler Younger

Hi, my name is Tyler. I’ve been a part of this community for about 6 years and I’ve grown from the small seed I was, to the successful and healthy, but still growing flower I am today. This school is more than just a school, it is a place to build friendships, take on challenges, and to ride a roller coaster through the thunder and lightning, awaiting the rainbow that comes after.

One thing I’ve discovered is you can’t have success alone. The many challenges and projects that I endured were steps towards the open gate leading to my future success. My experiences and accomplishments derived from my dedication and resilience. I give gratitude to my teachers, Mrs.Fennoy, Mr.Taylor, Mrs.Oteng, and Mr.Speed, who have individually spent supplemental time and effort to help me rise above. Thank you for allowing me to discover what success looks like.

2021 Sixth Grade Graduation Presentations | Alara Stewart

Good afternoon, my name is Alara Stewart. City Academy has been incredible to me. As you all know, City Academy is a place of learning. Teachers push you to your limit and dare you to perform below that. They hound you, and hound you and make you discover your talents beyond your own imagination. What may not seem reasonable in the moment, will help you later.

City Academy is much more than an institution for learning. City Academy has been more like my family. I’ve created strong bonds with administrators, faculty, my peers and even our maintenance man, Mr. Bill. Mr. Bill knows everything and everybody.

2021 Sixth Grade Graduation Presentations | Vishinsky White

Good morning City Academy friends and family. My name is Vishinsky White and on this day I would like to share with you the beginning stages of my life as a student at City Academy. What is Life? Well, according to the Webster Dictionary “life” is defined as the existence of an individual human being or organism, but in my opinion, that doesn’t truly define what “life” means to me. Life is a variety of different things. With your imagination and thoughts, You can bring life to a single book, a computer or even a Zoom call. Sometimes, I think life can represent a single moment.

2021 Sixth Grade Graduation Presentations | Hamida Dickerson

Good Morning, my name is Hamida Dickerson and I am eager to share a glimpse of my journey that has led me to Villa Duchesne in the fall. I would like to start by acknowledging how appreciative I am for all that City Academy has done for me. I am thankful and proud of my nine years I have spent here and cherish all the memorable moments I’ve shared with teachers, friends, and my City Academy community. One memorable moment that I have held dear to me, is my first day at City Academy and meeting my first friend. I walked into Junior Kindergarten afraid and vulnerable but when I met my very first friend, I knew my time here would be time well spent.

2021 Sixth Grade Graduation Presentations | Chontell Johnson

Good day everyone, my name is Chontell Johson and today I will share the “Greatest Part of Me”. All of my life I have gone through change. Both in my personal home life and in my education. The “Greatest Part of Me”, however, has been my ability to adapt to change. Change can be good and it makes you better. For instance, when I was much younger, I used to be a quiet soul, but internally, I was a ball of personality. I was kind, had plenty of sass, and even had a ton of humor. Afraid of sharing the “greatest part of me” with others, I dared to let others know the real “Chontell.” Besides my twin sister, I did not have many friends or confidence for that matter. But soon learned how to develop genuine friendships and even got a closer bond with my twin sister, Chantell, and my best friend, Joy.

2021 Sixth Grade Graduation Presentations | Traelon Collins

Good morning , my name is Traelon Collins. I am holding a basketball that is a representation of my characteristics and strong qualities as a student. Much like a basketball, which is precisely round in shape; I am a well-rounded kid who is easy going, enjoys making others around me feel comfortable while not sweating the small stuff. Like a basketball, I am able to go with the flow of things, which has granted me opportunities to make and create an everlasting friendship with my best friend Lucas. He has been a great teammate on the court, and even greater friend.
