Dedicated. Committed. Enthusiastic. Passionate. Advocate. These are all ways students, families, and staff at City Academy describe Nikki Doughty, City Academy’s new Chief Operating Officer. As COO, Nikki oversees day-to-day operations of the school.

Since joining the City Academy family ten years ago, Nikki has become a role model for many students and an exceptional leader in the community. She began working at City Academy in 2005 in the Development Department and since that time has served in admissions, placement, alumni relations, external and parent relations. She has dedicated herself to being an advocate for our students and the quality education that the school provides in our community. This dedication can be seen daily as Nikki walks the halls of City Academy receiving hugs from students and when she meets with alumni during our STRIVE for College program.

Nikki Doughty greeting students on the first day of school

Nikki is thrilled to be City Academy’s first Chief Operating Office and recognizes the great strides that City Academy is making in the community. “As St. Louis and the broader nation navigate these challenging times, questioning how do we empower and educate a large number of youth who continue to be left out of the American dream, I look at what City Academy has accomplished and the metamorphosis that occurs in our students. The impact that the school is making in the lives of these scholars and the community tells me that City Academy is part of the answer,” says Ms. Doughty. “At City Academy, teachers, students, and families are working together to actualize the hopes and dreams of our youth. As COO, I will push City Academy to continue to fulfill its mission to transform students, families and our community while also broadening our impact throughout the region.”

President and Co-founder of City Academy, Don Danforth, is confident in Nikki’s ability to lead City Academy to new heights. “Nikki’s dedication to our mission and vision are resolute. She has gained the confidence of faculty, staff, administration, parents, students, Board of Trustees, and me. Additionally, she is well recognized throughout the St. Louis community as a respected and engaged advocate for our students and the Board of Trustees, as well as myself and the Executive Team. I am proud to have her on our team.”

Congratulations on your new career, you have been moving all over the place. Now, who is going to take care of the alumni and make sure things are happening for them. When you have new people stepping in, they don’t know the alumni and how will they know them if they are not around the school everyday. On the other hand, what an accomplishment, keep doing what you are doing. I say well done.

Congratulations, Nikki. A well-deserved promotion. Donnie is as good or better in recognizing teacher talent as he is in developing a great educational center.

CA is so lucky to have you on its team
