Upper School Learning Specialist
“As a reading specialist, my passion for education concentrates on literacy and the lasting power that arises from a child’s desire to read and the success they feel while reading. It is my wish, as an educator, that all students have the ability to feel successful in literacy, so they can better act as agents of their own learning. Reading is the foundation and is at the root of knowledge and education and, I believe, that students deserve the right to conquer those skills. I am excited that City Academy offers our students the opportunity to utilize all the resources and staff available to provide them with what they need to succeed.”
Emily Hauge came to City Academy in 2020 with six years of teaching experience. Previously she served as a Middle School Language Arts/Literature teacher at La Salle Middle School and most recently taught as a Reading Specialist at Premier Charter School. She is a native of St. Louis City and received her bachelor’s degrees in Urban Affairs and Middle School Education with a concentration in Language Arts from Saint Louis University. She then went on to receive her master’s in education with a concentration in reading from Fontbonne University.
In her free time, Emily loves to go on walks with her daughter, son, and husband. She, also, enjoys reading and home improvement projects.”
