“I am inspired daily by the level of commitment from our scholars and their families. City Academy students strive not only for academic excellence; they become leaders and peace makers. The experiences they gain while at City Academy prepare them for a life of leadership and service.”

Joan has been a member of the City Academy family since 2005, serving first as a learning specialist and more recently as the school counselor. She has worked with children and adults with intellectual and social/emotional challenges in schools, agencies, and private practice. She believes that all children can succeed given the appropriate educational and emotional support. Joan also provides counseling services for military families, assisting them in dealing with the daily stresses of military life.

In St. Charles County, Joan serves at the Family Advocacy and Community Training and is a former board member. She is engaged in numerous social welfare activities with Assumption Church in O’Fallon, Missouri. Joan and her husband, Rick, have two adult sons and three grandchildren.
