Coach Powell joined City Academy in 2019 with five years of teaching experience. He began his career at Fanning Middle School, and went on to North View in the Special School District. Before beginning his teaching career, Leon played professional basketball overseas.
Leon graduated from Southeast Missouri State with a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice and received a Masters in Special Education from Missouri Baptist University.
