Strive

College Readiness

City Academy’s Strive for College Program pairs alumni with Wash U students for mentoring and support. Lessons are provided at the beginning of each Strive session based on grade level needs with presentations on career pathways, resume building, networking and more.

Other components of Strive include: ACT/SAT prep; college applications and scholarship support; general homework support; study habits and organizational skill building; and networking.

In addition, our L.E.A.P. Team assists students preparing for college by providing opportunities for Leadership Development. We assist with community engagement by facilitating volunteer experiences, internships, and paid work opportunities; we help hone skills necessary for on-campus leadership roles; and we organize summer opportunities for further skill development.

Alumni Visit

Transitional and Continuing Support

A member of our L.E.A.P. Team meets with each alumni in secondary school at least twice per semester at their school to check in on their academic, social and emotional needs. Students set goals for their semester with plans to achieve them. We also partner with school leadership, advisors and counselors at the secondary schools to allow for optimal experiences for our alumni. Additionally, we partner with our alumni families to provide necessary support.

St Louis Trust

Mentorship

City Academy provides the opportunity for alumni to engage in real-world work experiences via the creation of mentor/mentee relationships. We also help alumni develop networking skills through observation and direct engagement in work meetings, lunches/dinners, and work site exposure. Additionally, we connect alumni with internships and shadowing opportunities in areas of career interests and we prep students for interviews.
