City Academy 2025
Thomas Jefferson School 2031
When Lincoln Beaugard left City Academy for Thomas Jefferson School (TJ), he knew he was beginning a new chapter. What he didn’t know was just how much that first year would challenge him — and help him grow.
Adjusting to a new school and environment took time, but Lincoln quickly found a welcoming community. As he reflects on his first year at TJ, one of his proudest accomplishments isn’t a grade or an award, but the impression he made on his teachers.
“Their positive remarks about my personality and future made me feel recognized and appreciated,” Lincoln shared. “It motivates me to keep building on what I’ve already done and learned.”
One thing Lincoln brought with him to secondary school was a love of tennis. Encouraged by his mother to give the sport a try, Lincoln began playing as a City Academy student and eventually found his place on the court. Through City Academy’s Extended Day partnership with Breakpoint Tennis & Life Skills Academy, the sport became an important part of his life.
“By 3rd or 4th grade, tennis became a part of me, especially when the team formed,” he said. Although his schedule at TJ has made finding time to play more difficult, Lincoln continues to work on his game whenever he gets the opportunity.
His interests have also taken him somewhere new: the sky.
Inspired by his father — and, as Lincoln readily admits, Star Wars — he became fascinated with aviation at an early age. That curiosity eventually led him to the Civil Air Patrol (CAP), where he has participated in flight experiences and discovered a potential path for his future.
“Being in CAP has made me feel confident about my future, knowing I can pursue an aviation career or even join the Air Force someday,” Lincoln said.
As Lincoln explores where his interests might take him, City Academy continues to be part of his journey through L.E.A.P., an alumni program designed to help graduates stay connected and supported throughout secondary school. For Lincoln, that support has been especially meaningful while navigating the challenges of his first year at TJ.
“L.E.A.P. has been a huge support for me mentally throughout school,” he shared. “Having someone I can talk with about my experiences and issues throughout school, especially when I can be completely open about it, is helpful.”
