Supervision Activities

Students in Supervision will be able to choose between activities such as Homework Hall, Board Games, Outdoor Fun, Gym Play, Karaoke, and Movie Fridays (parents do NOT need to register for these choices). 

In addition, students in Supervision can register to participate in one of City Academy’s “premiere” after school programs, depending on their grade level. During the first quarter, those options will be STAGES (theater), Girl Scouts, Tennis & Life Skills, and Varsity Tutors.

STAGES

STAGES provides musical arts training that offers a range of opportunities that inspires curiosity, creativity, and passion through Musical Theatre education. Students will work to enhance their skills in acting, dancing and singing and will display their talents in an amazing performance in December.

Varsity Tutors

City Academy entered into a partnership agreement with Varsity Tutors, which will provide one-on-one tutoring for students in Extended Day Supervision. This program will allow students that need additional support to get free tutoring opportunities to enhance their academic performance. In addition, this program will allow students that are experiencing academic success to continue to flourish by getting free one-on-one tutoring to prepare them for secondary school. Varsity Tutors will use this opportunity to show how their platform helps all students regardless of their academic background. Students will have access to their own tutors twice a week for two 45-minute sessions during the first semester of the 2024-2025 school year.

Homework/Study Session

To assist students in managing their time effectively and meeting their academic goals, I will be hosting an extended homework/study hall twice a week. During this structured session, students can quietly work on homework from all subjects. This study hall will provide a supportive environment for students who may benefit from extra time to complete assignments and seek assistance if needed. It’s a great opportunity for students to focus on meeting deadlines and getting help as necessary.

Bejeweled

Bejeweled is a class to make jewelry projects. Participants will learn to make and complete up to 3 different pieces each week, culminating with a unique jewelry collection and skills to continue creating beyond the end of the program. Projects will include earrings, bracelets, necklaces, and rings made with glass, wood, clay, leather, and metal components, and more. Aside from jewelry design and construction, students will learn about various cultures the jewelry designs have been inspired by, and how to represent works inspired by others with respect, style, and grace.
