City Academy’s Friends Board consists of passionate supporters of City Academy who are dedicated to spreading the word about our mission through volunteerism and fundraising, including hosting Trivia Night each year. As they start a new year, please see an excerpt from a letter by new Friends Board Chair, Allie Beath.
One of the things that makes the Board so successful in my opinion, is that we each have our own individual reasons for connecting to the mission of City Academy. These “why’s” are the driving force behind our group and truly the reason that we have been able to be as impactful as we have thus far.
I am very much looking forward to taking over the Friends Board Chair role for the coming school year and figured that I would share what my “why” is. As you all know, City Academy is continually breaking down barriers to quality education while also providing a supportive and comprehensive community for its students and their families. Growing up in St. Louis, I was fortunate enough to be able to attend schools that helped to put me on a path to where I am today. However, it is not lost on me that having access to quality education is a privilege that is not everyone’s reality. Now having children of my own, I truly see how important access to top-notch education and a supportive community is to not only the students, but to their families as well. City Academy goes above and beyond to help set its students up for a successful future, no matter what their financial means or background may look like.
I am eager to start the 2024-2025 school year and look forward to continuing our work together to help further City Academy’s mission!
Sincerely,
Allie Beath
City Academy Friends Board Chair, 2024-2026
